Addiction is one of the most common behavioral health conditions impacting millions of Americans every day. Addiction coaching/counseling assists with learning how to establish healthy relationships in recovery by reconnecting with important family/friends or through peer support network building.

Substance abuse and addiction disorders are among the toughest illnesses to treat.  Substance abuse occurs when a person uses a substance (drugs or medication, for example) in a dangerous or unhealthy way that impairs their social, emotional, physical, professional, or psychological well-being.  However, alcohol or drug abuse are not the only forms of addiction.

Oftentimes, people with addictions also struggle with other psychological problems like depression, anxiety or psychosis.  If you suffer with any form of addiction, educate yourself about potential treatment options that work for you.  Help is available.

OJL’s substance abuse coaches/counselors provide the mental, emotional and behavioral health services individuals need to recover from drug and alcohol abuse, gambling addictions and other behavioral issues.  They create a supportive, judgment-free environment that provides patients with the resources they need on their recovery journey.

It is important to note that while coaching/counseling can provide education and different strategies to improve overall wellness, it does not provide advice or instructions on how to live life, so the decision on what happens in a session is always the individual’s.

When starting addiction coaching/counseling, the coach/counselor will ask a variety of questions focused on things like family history, childhood experiences, life skills development, and other life experiences involving substance use.  They will also review medical history, mental health conditions, family support, relationship dynamics, relapse potential, and external stressors such as finances or legal system concerns.  The addiction coach/counselor will begin discussing goals the individual would like to achieve and potential needs that the counselor has observed.  When all these concepts are incorporated together, a treatment plan is established.  All the components required to jumpstart your legacy.
